PAINTINGS & DRAWINGS IN CMYK This series explores my fascination with science and technology, imagined in a vivid and chaotic aspect. The pieces combine symbol, abstract-expressive mark-making, computer-generated prints and found-imagery collage.
I am captivated by the inherent qualities of liquids (ink-jet printer inks, artists' acrylics, house paint) as they slide, fall, and spread under different circumstances. I enjoy the dialogue generated by the unpredictable aspects of the process (splatters, drips, bleeds) interacting with the precise, computer-generated shapes applied in translucent collage.
This continues a longstanding theme of contrasting chaos and order that is first articulated in the Dialogues series (1998 and 1999).
